As part of the Second Universities Season, implemented by the Dakahlia Al-Azhar Preaching Region in cooperation with Mansoura University, the Faculty of Nursing hosted an awareness seminar titled:
“Between the Permissible and the Forbidden: The Islamic Ruling on Electronic Gambling.”

The seminar was organized by the Students for Egypt Family – Faculty of Nursing.

Speakers:

Sheikh Dr. Mohamed Yehia Mohamed Saleh

Sheikh Dr. Hamdy Amr Allah Misbah Naseer

The speakers presented an in-depth explanation of the dangers of electronic gambling, illustrating how certain digital platforms exploit excitement, competition, and reward mechanisms to draw young people into unconscious patterns of spending and behavioral addiction.

They also discussed the operational mechanisms of online gambling platforms, explaining how “illusionary rewards” and “instant prizes” create psychological dependency that can escalate into addiction. The speakers stressed that this issue has become one of the most serious challenges facing families and educational institutions worldwide.

The seminar addressed the psychological, social, and religious dimensions of the problem, highlighting its effects on mental health, academic performance, career prospects, and family relations. Real-world scenarios of young individuals who fell victim to online gambling were presented to raise awareness and warn students against early risk behaviors.

The event witnessed strong attendance from students and faculty staff, followed by an open discussion where participants raised questions about the Islamic ruling on electronic gambling, protective measures, and the roles of families and universities in early intervention. Students praised the speakers’ clear and engaging approach, which helped them better understand the issue.

This seminar comes within the activities of the Second Universities Season, aiming to spread intellectual and ethical awareness among students, enhance their ability to navigate digital-age challenges, and build an informed generation capable of making sound decisions in a world full of digital temptations.
