Symposium Titled "Infection Control in Intensive Care Units"
Within the framework of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human" for human development, which aims to achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Program in health, education, culture, and sports, and to provide diverse services, activities, and programs targeting all age groups.
Under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Sherif Khater- President of Mansoura University, Prof.Dr Mohamed Abdel Azim- Vice President of the University for Community Service, Environmental Development, Prof.DrAbeer Zakaria- Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof.Dr. Wafaa Fathy Selim- Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof.Dr. Ahlam Joudah- Director of the Public Service Unit.
Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Faculty of Nursing hosted an Symposium titled:- "Infection Control in Intensive Care Units" It was presented by by Al. Sara Hegazy, an assistant lecturer in the Critical Care and Emergency Nursing Department, which the nursing students were trained on infection control within the intensive care units at the Emergency Hospital of Mansoura University.
The following subjects were discussed:-
- Definition of infection, it's various types, causes, and most suspectible groups to infection in ICU.
- The Intensive Care Unit's infection control and prevention program which comprised the following:- - Proper hand washing
- Different forms of personal protection equipment and their usage
- How to handle waste of all types
- The most important care bundle that can be implemented in ICU to reduce patients exposure to vital and bacterial infections
