On Wednesday, 18/9/2019, the Academic Guidance Committee headed by Dr. Bushra Attia, General Coordinator of Academic Guidance, held a workshop on Academic Guidance with the participation of Dr. Amal Eid, Director of Credit Hours Program and Mr. Ahmed Abdel Wahed, Head of Student Affairs Department, within the presence of the faculty members in order to prepare for the new academic year to help students to register their courses on the credit hours system of Mansoura University. Several topics were discussed, including the skills that should be available to the academic advisor in order to contribute to the achievement of the desired objectives, as well as the registration process for students and how to facilitate the registration procedures and guide students to choose courses that help them in academic progress and make study plans for them.

 

In addition, the most important problems that hinder the process of academic guidance and possible solutions were discussed and students were distributed to the faculty counselors at a lower rate of the number of students per counselor in order to improve the process of academic guidance at the faculty based on the suggestions for improvement from previous students and academic advisors point of view.

 

Prof. Wafaa Jamil - Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs, started the workshop activities and stressed the importance of the interest and cooperation of counselors with the Academic Guidance Unit and the importance of working within the spirit of the team to complete the registration process and follow-up the students academically throughout the semester. 

Dr. Bushra Attia, General Coordinator of Academic Guidance, answered the queries of the attendees of the faculty members and explained her readiness to answer any queries from the academic advisors from the faculty members at any time to facilitate matters of academic guidance at the faculty. 

 

The method of registration and access to the site of Ibn al-Haytham was presented by Dr. Amal Eid Credit Hours Program Manager, and Mr Ahmed, Director of Student Affairs, in order to assist new advisors in the program of academic guidance at the faculty.

 

The workshop ended with the presentation for the basic requirements from the beginning of the new academic year for each academic supervisor at the faculty in order to print a case statement for each student and study his/her case and the cumulative average and the beginning of making plans for all students. Also, make sure to register for each student by viewing the registration form from the site of Ibn al-Haytham to confirm the registration of courses and the number of hours per student.
