17 Egyptian universities were included in the World Times rankings in the engineering and technology sector for 2020 compared with 14 universities last year
Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received a report submitted by Prof. Amr Adly, Deputy Minister for University Affairs, on the inclusion of17 Egyptian universities in the Times Higher Education rankings in the engineering and technology sector in 2020, compared with 14 universities last year, an increase of three government universities for the first time to be included in the classification in the engineering and technology sector, Aswan, Beni Suef and Sohag.
The report pointed out that the universities of Aswan and Beni Suef were ranked first in the Egyptian universities in the engineering and technology sector in the world rankings (301-400), followed by Banha, Tanta and Zagazig universities(401-500), followed by Mansoura University (501-600), followed by Ain Shams, Alexandria, and the American University in Cairo, Assiut, Cairo, Menoufia, Minya, Sohag and Suez Canal respectively (601-800), Al-Azhar and Helwan universities (801+).
The report pointed to the high level of performance of four Egyptian universities in the classification in the engineering and technology sector this year compared with the last year, namely the universities of Banha and Zagazig came in the ranking (401- 500), followed by Mansoura University in the ranking (501-600), followed by Menoufia University in the ranking (601- 800).
On the other hand, the report added the inclusion of Mansoura University for the first time this year in the computer science sector in the world ranking of the Times where it got the ranking (251-300), in addition to the high level of performance of the universities of Cairo and Ain Shams in the computer science sector this year compared with the last year, Cairo University got the ranking (-251300) and Ain Shams University (501 -600), Alexandria and Menofia (501-600) in Computer Science by Times rankings.
