The student union elections at the Faculty of Nursing, Mansoura University, commenced on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in accordance with the election schedule approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The elections were held under the auspices of Professor Ashraf Abdel-Basset, University President, and Professor Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and under the leadership of Professor Amina El-Nemer, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Rabab El-Sayed Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.
The opening of registration and the distribution of application forms on the first day saw a strong turnout of students wishing to run for membership in the student union. All precautionary measures were observed among the students, reflecting the Faculty's commitment to encouraging all those who wish to exercise their democratic right to represent their peers through student union membership.
It is worth noting that a committee has been formed to oversee the student union elections at the college. The committee is chaired by Dr. Wedad Saber and includes Dr. Ahmed Hashem El-Sayed, Dr. Wafaa Wahdan, Dr. Mustafa Taj El-Molouk, Dr. Sally Mohamed, student Iman Samir Abdel-Fattah, and student Mohamed Hassan Mohamed. The committee explained that the process of submitting nominations and registering student data is proceeding according to schedule. It began today with the opening of nominations, the distribution and submission of application forms, and will continue through its various stages, from announcing the candidate lists to the first round of voting at the college level.
It is worth noting that, according to the schedule approved by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, nominations opened on November 18th. Preliminary lists will be announced on November 21st, appeals will be accepted on November 22nd, and appeals will be reviewed on November 23rd. Final lists will be announced on November 24th, and election campaigning will begin on November 25th. The first round of elections in the colleges, along with the vote count and announcement of results, will take place on November 28th. Runoff elections will be held on November 29th. Elections for committee secretaries and their assistants at the college level will be held on November 30th, and elections for the student union president and vice president at the college level will be held on December 1st. The student elections will conclude with the election of committee secretaries and their assistants, as well as the president and vice president of the university student union, on December 2nd, 2021.
To be eligible to run, students must be citizens of the Arab Republic of Egypt, of good character and reputation, and must be first-year students in their respective academic year (for both semester and full-year students). Furthermore, they must not have failed more than one course. Two courses from those he registered for last year are required for students in the credit-hour system.
Additionally, he must have documented student activity at the university or college in the field of the committee for which he is nominated, and he must not have been previously disciplined with any of the penalties stipulated in clauses (5) to (13) of Article (126) of these regulations. He must not have been previously convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude or dishonesty, unless he has been rehabilitated. Finally, he must not be affiliated with any terrorist organization, entity, or group established in violation of the law.
