Justifications for creating the program

The Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Specialty) program was created for the following reasons:

• The results of labor market studies for service beneficiaries revealed that a graduate of nursing education must have the specialized skills that serve the community and meet its needs. Therefore, the program was created to qualify graduates to provide high-quality nursing care with a focus on a nursing specialty chosen by the student and based on the needs of society.

• There is a severe shortage of jobs for nurses specializing in various clinical educational fields, which is reflected in the level of education and practice.

• There is a severe shortage in the category of professional nurses who have graduated from nursing colleges, which has led to a shortage of specialized nurses to work in subspecialty branches such as critical care and emergency nursing, obstetrics nursing, women’s health, as well as oncology nursing, pediatric care nursing, and most branches of specialization.

• Implementing the recommendation of the International Council of Nursing, which stipulates that qualified nursing specialists must manage all nursing services in healthcare institutions of all types and that basic, post-basic, and specialized nursing education programs should be performed by specialized nurses who are educationally and technically qualified.

• The program provides the student with the knowledge, skills, and competencies that qualify for work after graduation in the general and specialized nursing field by providing the opportunity to be creative and use research evidence in nursing practice to meet the needs of the patient and develop health care for the community.
