the Faculty of Nursing had the honor of hosting an educational seminar titled “How to Protect Our Students from the Traps of Online Gambling.”

The seminar was held on Monday, 17 November 2025, and was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Sweilm Mohamed Talba, who presented a comprehensive overview of the dangers of online gambling, explaining how some digital platforms exploit excitement-triggering elements to lure young people into unconscious patterns of spending and behavioral addiction.

He further discussed the mechanisms used by digital gambling platforms, showing how deceptive rewards and quick prizes create psychological attachment among students, potentially leading to addiction. He emphasized that this phenomenon has become one of the most serious challenges facing families and educational institutions worldwide.

The psychological, social, and religious dimensions of the issue were also addressed, highlighting its impact on mental health, academic performance, career future, and family relationships. Several real-life cases involving youth who fell victim to digital gambling were presented to raise students’ awareness and warn them against early signs of involvement.

The seminar witnessed notable attendance from students and faculty members and included an open discussion with direct questions about identifying early indicators of digital addiction, protection strategies, and how families and universities can intervene at the right time. Students praised the clear and insightful delivery of information by the speaker, which contributed to a deeper understanding of the issue.

This seminar comes as part of the second season of university outreach activities implemented by the Dakahlia Al-Azhar Preaching Region in cooperation with Mansoura University, aiming to promote intellectual and ethical awareness among students, enhance their ability to face the challenges of the digital age, and build a conscious generation capable of making sound decisions in a world full of digital temptations.
