Faculty of Nursing Launches the Premarital Counseling Initiative as Part of Comprehensive Health Awareness for Mansoura University Facultie

A significant awareness initiative entitled Premarital Counseling was launched for Mansoura University students. This pioneering initiative, spearheaded by the Faculty of Nursing, aims to cover all faculties of the university and seeks to raise the health and social awareness of young university students who are preparing for marriage.

The initiative was launched under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater – President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi – Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azeem – Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

It was led by Prof. Dr. Abeer Zakaria – Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and Prof. Dr. Fatma El-Imam – Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahar Mohamed Soliman – Professor and Head of the Community Health Nursing Department, and Prof. Dr. Samia Mahmoud Abdel-Mouty – Professor of Community Health Nursing. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Narges Fathi El-Refeai – Assistant Lecturer in the Community Health Nursing Department.

The first seminar of the initiative was launched from the Faculty of Nursing and focused on several key topics, including medical examinations aimed at conducting comprehensive tests to detect potential health problems before marriage, screening for infectious diseases to ensure early prevention, and identifying possible hereditary diseases through genetic testing. The seminar also addressed the importance of enhancing quality of life and positive mental health for couples, learning effective conflict resolution strategies, and discussing role distribution and responsibility-sharing within married life.

The initiative was distinguished by the use of a modern health education method — Digital Storytelling — which offers significant benefits, most notably attracting attention, encouraging interaction and participation, simplifying health information, facilitating recall, and motivating students to adopt positive health attitudes.

This initiative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to enhance public health and build stable, well-informed families. It also supports the state’s efforts in digital transformation by integrating modern technological media into awareness programs within universities.

Together, towards a generation that is more aware, healthier, and better prepared to build a brighter future.
