The activities of the Mawadda Initiative were inaugurated as part of the Presidential Initiative “Bidaya,” under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and in cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The initiative was led under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Beiyoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. The activities were supervised by Prof. Dr. Abeer Zakaria, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Awatef Hassan, Acting Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, with coordination by Prof. Dr. Dina Abu El-Ela, University Coordinator of the Mawadda Initiative and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wedad Saber, Student Activities Coordinator and Faculty Coordinator of the Mawadda Initiative, and Ms. Marwa Mohamed, Director of Student Welfare at the Faculty.

The training sessions were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wedad Saber and addressed psychological and social aspects of family life, the concept of marriage and its objectives, criteria for choosing a life partner and partner characteristics, factors contributing to successful marital life, family problems, their causes and methods of dealing with them, as well as health and medical aspects of family life. The program also discussed common misconceptions related to marital life, premarital care components, and religious and ethical aspects of family life.

Students were divided into working groups, during which role-playing activities were conducted to demonstrate positive and negative communication patterns, aiming to train students on proper and healthy family communication skills.

It is worth noting that the Mawadda Initiative is a presidential initiative aimed at preserving the cohesion and unity of Egyptian families and preparing young people who are about to get married across all governorates of Egypt. The Ministry of Social Solidarity has begun disseminating the initiative within Egyptian institutes and universities. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to university and institute students by raising their awareness of the importance of the family based on affection and mercy, in order to maintain family stability through collective efforts
